Murcia 2022 Itinerary

Following words from Tony Buckley:

Our covid delayed trip to Murcia on Wed 5th Oct, kindly sponsored by Jack McHugh & Alucraft, is finally happening. At time of writing we have 39 players and Bryan, our starter, travelling.

Please read this itinerary in detail as there is lots of info, links to golf courses etc. Please pay particular attention to bus times, and remember as always, if you are a no show on the bus, we will take it that you have made alternative transport arrangements. The bus will depart sharp at times stated. Same goes for tee-times. Please check in with Bryan 15 mins before your allotted time to avoid a 2-shot penalty.

Flights are Ryanair Dublin to Murcia, Wed 5 Oct, 16.55! See you departures side Terminal 1.

Return Murcia to Dublin, Mon 10 Oct 22, departure time 21:30, arrival time 23:20. We check out of the hotel before golf on the final day, so we bring our gear from the hotel and depart from the golf club to the airport.

You have all received your Ryanair booking reference and instructions to check in, add bags, clubs and seats. If anybody has any difficulty with this, please contact myself.

There are no pre-flight covid tests or paperwork to be done, but we may be asked to wear mask on flights/buses and possibly asked to show covid vaccine cert on arrival, so no harm to have a mask and your cert with you.

We will collect €50 per man on the bus to cover lunch on Saturday, slight increases in fees post covid & sweep entry for both Saturday and Monday’s casual golf.

We stay 5 nights B&B, in hotel 525 in Los Alcazares, 40 mins from the airport. Plenty of bars and restaurants, and as always, we need to apply common sense to ensure our personal security whilst travelling and never walk alone at night. Please ensure your travel insurance is up to date.

Thursday, Golf La Manga south course, bus departs 08.30 sharp, first tee 10:06, bus departs 18.00. Venue https://lamangaclub.com/en/sports/golf/south-course.

Friday is a free day. There’s plenty to do, just Google Los Alcazares!

Saturday, Golf Lo Romero, bus departs 08.20 sharp, first tee 09:48, bus departs 17.30. Venue https://www.loromerogolf.com/?lang=en

Format is a stableford Team event, full CCGS handicap, 2 to score on all holes. 12% extra points awarded if you are a 3-man team.

We have arranged burger and a beer on the 9th hole.

On Saturday night at 8pm we are having our group meal and prize presentation in the grill restaurant El Patio, directly across from the hotel. There is a 3-course set meal arranged. Please settle bar/wine bill & tip per table.

Special prize for all, who hold the island green in two shots on the 18th, or 3 shots if you have a double shot on this magnificent finishing par 4, if successful, please mark on your card.

Sunday is a free day.

Monday, Golf La Serena, bus departs 10.00 sharp, first tee 11.11am, www.laserenagolf.es

Check out from the hotel, bring all your gear, we will eat after golf and depart directly from the club to the airport at 18.30 for a 21.30 flight.

Format is a singles stableford comp, with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd plus 3 classes.

Below are the time sheets for the 3 days. As always Sean has tried to mix members about and we encourage all to reach out beyond your usual buddies and include all in dinner/drinks/free day arrangements etc.

There are two restaurants on the local strip that I can highly recommend. Little Sicily +34868170741 and Bistro Heming-way +34664377442. You will probably need to book as I expect this town to be very busy with golfers and tourists. Also, just 7 mins in a taxi, on the sea front is a real traditional Spanish restaurant, La Encarnación, +34968575048 highly recommended with a bit of Flamenco entertainment.
