Welcome to the CCGS Website

Dear Member,

Well finally we’ve done it! It’s taken a little longer than expected but as John Mills character says in ‘Ice Cold in Alex’… “Worth waiting for!”. The brand new CCGS website is finally online & ‘live’ for all of our members to enjoy.

As we reported to the members at the AGM it was decided that a subcommittee be formed with a view to assessing the viability & options for an upgrade of the CCGS website. The sub-committee was composed of Philip McGowan, Sean Guirke & Michael Connolly. The then current website looked tired, was difficult to update  & was not up to date with current web standards.

The aims of the sub-committee were to create a new website that would be more accessible to & easier to use for the membership. The key priorities were…
•    To have a website that reflects the professional standard in which the society is run
•    Is relevant, targeted & easy to use for the membership.
•    Is easy to update with news, notices, images etc. without specialist web design knowledge
•    Gives sponsors an adequate showcase

I think you will agree that the sub-committee have succeeded in presenting a great new tool for communication of society news, outing reports, upcoming events, outings & other snippets or articles that might be of interest to the membership.

It is the committees intention that the upgraded website will be the primary focus of communications with our membership throughout the rest of the 2011 season & onwards. We have integrated quite a number of technologies into the new site to present a consistent look & make the site easy to use.

There are four main strands to the structure of the site…

1 – Golf Software – We have integrated with our Golf software to allow prompt updating of Handicaps, Player of the Year, & the matchplay competitions.

2 – Blog – We have incorporated a blog to present the latest news & also to provide an instant archive that will build into a valuable resourse for members over time. The Blog software also allows members to post comments & feedback on the various news items.

3 – Photos – We have integrated a photographic upload & storage solution, allowing us to upload & categorise the many photographs that are taken at each outing & to give the members a flavour of the atmosphere & key moments at each outing.

4 – Members – Finally, we have a password protected area whose main purpose is to hold members email & phone contact details as well as the society Rules & Regulations. The section will also be used for Golf society information & announcements that we do not want publically available.

We trust you will enjoy the new website & we welcome your feedback. Make a comment below!
