September Newsletter

Dear Member,

As we progress towards the end of the summer; I think all of those members who made the trip to Bunclody Golf & Fishing Club will agree that the venue was world class with superb club house facilities, excellent practice range & a great golf course. While the course was set up very fairly on the day, the closing 4 holes posed a real challenge to the members. The unique feature of a lift from the 17th green to the 18th tee box proved absolutely necessary as the change elevation was significant.

Brendan Fagan of Stock Design was our sponsor and on top of the fabulous prizes for the category & overall winners; Brendan also brought along his much appreciated hand-outs…one for everybody in the audience – Nothing like a little pressie to gather a few brownie points at home!

The scoring on the day was outstanding, with John Plunkett’s winning 42 beating a 41 from Derek Mooney in second and 40 from Steven Tucker in third; showing the depth of talent in our society.  Indeed, it was an historic day for John, bringing him a first outing win in his 16 years as a member of CCGS!

The members were obviously very excited about this outing & in a bid to avoid a 2 stroke penalty were in a desperate hurry to get to the venue. The imposition of a 2 point penalty was a source of particular delight to the Gardaí on the Naas road on Saturday morning!

Congratulations to all the prize winners!
