Our trip to the K Club for Michael Kenny’s Captain’s Day was certainly one of the most memorable days for the society. Although the weather forecast threatened to put a dampener on the golf, there was little more than a drizzle and some 72 golfers were treated to a spectacular Arnold Palmer course. The greens had been freshly rolled and new pin positions cut for our day and were absolutely superb.Congratulations to Shay Fleming who topped the field with a fantastic score of 35 points to win the Captain’s prize, a beautiful framed print of the 7th hole at the K Club and of course the much coveted Captain’s Cup. Well done to Captain Michael Kenny for putting on a beautiful array of prizes for the outing. Full results below.

The K Club provided us with a beautiful meal while Seán Boland entertained us with his wonderful singing. I’ve nothing to say about the dancing talents of our members but do check out the gallery on our website to see some of the antics! Former society member, Pat Coldrick, provided further entertainment with his masterful renditions of some classical and Spanish guitar pieces. Druids Glen/30th Anniversary Dinner

Another spectacular parkland course awaits us next in the shape of Druids Glen this coming Friday 7 September and the time sheet is now available to view on the website. The weather forecast looks promising at time of writing! The prize presentation for the outing will be in Yangs later that evening for our 30th Anniversary celebration dinner, at 8.00pm. Complimentary bubbles & beers will be kindly laid on by our sponsors Conor and Rory Gallagher. In the spirit of supporting our generous sponsors, don’t forget to give Gallagher Quigley Estate Agents a chance at your business if you are looking to buy or sell!

The committee have tried their very best to accommodate all requests for seating, so do please pay attention to the seating layouts in Yangs on the night.

As per earlier advice, there is still one space available for the away trip and anyone interested should contact Tony Buckley 0862411630 as soon as possible. Dates are 3 – 7 October. First come, first served! Final payment for the trip will be made this week and unfortunately, there can be no refunds beyond this time.

A reminder also that there will be no golf clubs available to hire and therefore you will need to book your clubs on your flight. All who are travelling will have received an email from Tony Buckley advising of your flight details and instructions regarding booking golf clubs and online check in closer to the date.
