Welcome to the 2014 season as a society member. You may recall that at this point last year the weather played havoc with our opening event causing it to be played mid year. Not wishing to tempt fate I have a gut feeling we will be good to go according to plan this season.

ARKLOW OUTING
We start our campaign at Arklow golf club on the Friday the 21st of March. The tee is booked from 10.00 until 12.36. Arklow is a new society venue and comes highly recommended by our members who have already played it. In keeping with our policy to minimize the cost of outings to the members the green fee for Arklow is €40.00, if you pay on time-sheet night it will only cost you €30.00.

TIMESHEET NIGHT
The time-sheet for Arklow will be available Thursday the 13th. March at 8.00pm.

PRIZE PRESENTATION
One major change to the first outing will be the prize presentatation. Whenever feasible this season we will have the prize presentations in the Knights Bar in Clontarf Castle. We hope this will be positive and popular with the members. Firstly it allows the early birds to head home or dare I say it back to work for a few hours, and the later groups can put the travelling behind them and relax over a few pints in the Castle. There will be finger food available courtesy of Mark Long and his team. The excellent Bar Menu will also be available throughout the day and evening.

The generosity of Clontarf Castle Hotel over many years has been a key factor in the ongoing success of our society and it is our intention to return this kindness and support them whenever possible. It also means that members who are unable to play on the day can also participate in the social evening that this opportunity will provide.

The first outing of the season is sponsored by fellow members Larry Gordon and Liam Mullaney and as ever we are very grateful for your kindness and wish you well on the day.

The winner at Arklow will also receive the Memorial trophy, introduced last season to commemorate those members who have passed away.

MALLORCA
I am pleased to announce that the October trip to Mallorca is now fully booked. If you wish to go on a waiting list please let me know as soon as possible. However the original package priced at €399 is no longer available. Airfares will be charged at the going rate in the event of cancellations.

CAPTAIN 2014
We wish Stephen Ward a warm welcome and a successful year in his role of captaincy. We also welcome Tony Judge and Shay Fleming on board the committee.

I receive at least one call per week looking for the telephone numbers and email addresses of other members. Your Hon Sec is only  too pleased to be able to help with any queries that members have. However, every members contact details are easily accessible if you simply log on to the website ‘MEMBERS AREA’ and enter your society UserName and PassWord.
