JANUARY 2016 Newsletter

Its time again to dust off your cheque book and send your annual donation to a very worthy cause (cash is also very acceptable). Please remit by return €150 plus your competition fees to the Honorary secretary. Your letter dropping through my door will help make my day and more importantly will save you a lot of grief from the endless annoying reminders I am going to send you by text and email.

It is possibly also worth mentioning that the trip to Waterville is seriously over subscribed and while we hope to accommodate everyone, it just may not be possible. Here’s a tip to ensure that you don’t miss the boat. Read the next sentence.
As subscriptions are received we will be allocating slots on the Waterville time-sheet, now that’s an incentive to stick your form and cheque in the post before the other 68 beat you to it.

Applications forms are available on the CCGS website. You have also received an email allowing you to download them. Any problems please contact your Hon Sec. Also, if you wish to lodge directly to our account please contact me for the details.

If you do not intend renewing your membership to the society I would be obliged if you could let me know. A text will suffice. We have quite a number of new applicants and your text will assist us greatly in deciding our numbers for this season.

NEW APPLICANTS
New applicants. Completed forms must be with the Hon. sec. no later than the 31st. of January.

THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
It was standing room only for the late arrivals at last Thursdays AGM. The meeting was chaired by incoming Captain Joe O’Flaherty in the absence of Tony Judge who was unable to attend due business commitments.

I am happy to report that the attending members were pleased with proposals and reports on the night.
You will receive a copy of the minutes from the meeting  within the next couple of days.

Our best wishes to Captain Joe O’Flaherty and Vice captain Michael Norton who I have no doubt will lead the society through a superb 2016 season.

We are delighted to welcome Tony Casey and Malachy Menton onto committee for 2016 and we are already lining up a few jobs for them for the coming season.

Our thanks to Tony Judge who captained the society throughout 2015. Congratulations on leading the society through yet another wonderful years golf and most importantly, fun and enjoyment.

We also wish Paul Webb every success in his latest career move which regrettably caused him to call it a day on committee. Paul has served the committee with distinction for many years and he will be sorely missed around the committee table.

Our thanks to all of our sponsors who have helped to make it another great line up this season.
On behalf of the Captain and committee we look forward to seeing you at all of the outings throughout the year.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous 2016.

Michael Brennan.
Honorary secretary.
