Dear Member.
Captains day at Royal Dublin. This one will go down in the annals as one of the best in the 25 year history of the society. This being our our Silver Jubilee year, it is a credit to Captain Tony Buckley and the committee that his day was such a huge success. A lot of commitment and hard work went into the finer details and nothing was left to chance. The weather also played its part and behaved beautifully throughout the day.
A nice touch on the 9th. green was the presence of the ‘MAC BUCKLEY BURGER BAR’ manned by Cian and Orla Buckley complete with Lola the dog, who was responsible for security and crowd control. A seriously good burger was provided to give all who played – a bit of a lift for the back nine. Personally speaking, I would have been better off staying for a second burger and risk annoying the dog.
A full dining room for the Captains dinner was enhanced with great food superb prizes, plus short and sincere speeches. The winner of the Captains prize was Philip McGowan – who recently had a serious encounter with a pothole in Spain, when he was out training for the Tour De France! The pothole won and successfully tossed the lycra clad Phil over the handlebars head first. Thankfully his helmet saved the day altough he did have to buy a new one. And no, we do not have a vacancy for a photographer! It is worth noting this is Philips third time to win the Captains prize and he has also been runner up on two previous occasions.
Second place went to Noel McGrane who carded 39 points against Philips 37 points. Unfortunately, Noel could not compete for the Captains prize as he had only played two outings prior to Captains day. Tadgh O Meara came very close with a very respectable 36 points to clinch third place. To view the full list of prize winners and the latest photo collection please click the links on the website.

CHRISTMAS PARTY
This years party will once again be held in the Indigo Lounge on Friday the 6th. of December. The format will be similar to last year with a buffet followed by drinking and dancing. There is no charge for society members and partners. We have also engaged at great expense Frank Sinatra for your entertainment. No we didn’t dig him up, it’s not really him but I am told that its hard to tell the difference!
FINALLY
It has been noted that a number of clubs no longer supply towels to visiting members. It is worth remembering to bring your own towel to future outings or risk sitting on your own in the bar after the outing.
Yours sincerely
