DECEMBER Newsletter

Dear Member,
It has been an honour for me to have written the newsletter for the past twenty years (give or take the odd break ). I have always found the December letter being the last one of the year is a time for reflection of both society and personal events . I am sure that you have fond memories of the highs within the society and of sad moments experienced  with the loss of friends and family members.

Sadly this year we lost Tadg OSullivan and past member Michael Murray in the latter stages of the 2015 season. While Michael had ceased his membership, Tadg remained an extremely active member until his illness finally prevented him from participating. I hope that they are both playing the best courses that Heaven has to offer. May they rest in peace.

I think you will all agree that under the stewardship of Captain Tony Judge and his hard working committee that we had an outstanding year of golf and social activity within the society.

Our thanks to Tony Judge and Paul Webb who have given freely of their time and will both depart the committee this year. On behalf of the members I would like to thank them for being part of the team that ensured that the outings were run like a well oiled Swiss watch.

To our sponsors. Without you we simply could not run the society. Please accept our gratitude for your generosity for the selfless manner in which you ensured that we had exceptional prizes at every outing.

I would like to express our appreciation to Manager David Hennessy and Marianne in Banqueting at Clontarf Castle Hotel for their generosity to the society. We are grateful to them for accommodating the society each month with conference rooms for committee meetings and the use of the Knights bar complete with complimentary food at prize presentations. We thank you sincerely.

SAINT ANNES

The final outing for 2015 was played at St. Annes. Our compliments to the club for giving us a course that was in excellent condition.Apart from the usual inclement weather that has followed us this year everyone had a very pleasant round of golf.

I have no doubt that everyone who played on the day spared a few moments to think of Club President Tadg O Sullivan who would have loved to have been with us at his beloved St. Annes.

Our thanks to Eamon Fay for his generous sponsorship of the St. Annes outing.
