Dear Member,
The purple patch continues. The Castle outing being the fifth in a row of rain and wind free outings in the current season. All comments following our day at the Castle were positive and not a single complaint about the tees. A fair course in great condition that everyone appeared to enjoy. Our thanks to sponsors Colm and Malachy Menton & Europcar for their generous sponsorship.
Paul Traynor romped home with five points to spare over his nearest challenger Ian Mackey who returned a very respectable 38 points. At most outings 38 points would normally clinch the winners slot. Congratulations to Ian who also scored one of those common old eagles that are now turning up with boring regularity at our outings.

CAPTAINS DAY AT ROYAL DUBLIN
We return to Royal Dublin on the 12th. of August to celebrate our 28th Captains day.
This years Captain Joe O’Flaherty who is also sponsoring the outing will be pulling out all the stops to make his day one to remember. I hope you can be there to take part in the festivities and the welcome we always receive when we play Royal Dublin.
Just in case you are feeling a bit peckish the Captain has very kindly arranged a Buckley Burger at the half way mark.
The time-sheet will be available on Thursday the 4th of August from 8.00pm until 9.30pm.
The green-fees are as follows.
Society members €65
Royal Dublin members €40
Dinner only €25
Payment received after 9.30pm on time-sheet night please add €10
There is no provision for golf only at Captains day. In the event that you are unable to attend dinner it is imperative that you inform Bryan Kenny before you depart the clubhouse following your round.
Members who are in their first year with the society are not eligible to win the Captains prize.
Members must have a minimum of two cards returned in the current season to compete for the Captains prize. All other prizes on the day are there for the taking. All you require is a good score!
Captain Joe O’Flaherty invites all members to join him and the committee for pre-dinner drinks in the bar at 7.00pm
Dinner will be served at 8.00pm sharp.
The prize presentation will take place immediately following dinner.
We have engaged the services of two top class comedians to entertain you prior to retiring to the bar for music and a few pints.
FINALLY
Please remember to settle your wine bill per table following dinner. We want to be welcome back next year.
Yours sincerely
Michael Brennan
Honorary secretary
