Enniscrone & County Sligo Results

Our two day championship in the West of Ireland proved to be another fantastic success, generously sponsored once again by Conor & Rory Gallagher of Gallagher Quigley Estate Agents. We were well looked after by staff at The Diamond Coast Hotel  which lived up to its four-star billing.

Both links courses, Enniscrone Golf Club & County Sligo Golf Club at Rosses Point, were in pristine condition and with a reasonable mix of weather for both days, we were presented with a fairly tough challenge.  This was evident in the low range of handicaps taking the plaudits over the two days.

Congratulations to Mick Chambers who took first place with a fantastic combined score of 72 points.  A very welcome return to society golf saw Noel McGrane produce a wonderful score of 64 points over the 2 days to claim second place – it’s hard to keep real talent down! Kingsley Lewis took third spot with another wonderful score of 63 points.

Well done to all our prize winners, full list of results below:

Please check your tee-time and be sure to check in with starter Bryan at least 15 minutes before your allocated slot.

A few important reminders from the day.  Members must attend the prize presentation to claim a prize.  If you cannot attend, please let the starter know when returning your card so that the results may be prepared correctly.

Slow play can take from the enjoyment of a round of golf. To avoid slow play

• Be aware of your position with regard to the group ahead.

• It is your groups responsibility to keep up with the group ahead.

• If you feel that your group is falling behind make it known and catch up quickly with the group ahead.

• If you lose a hole to the group ahead and are delaying the group behind, or if there is no group in front of you invite them to play through.

• Do not wait to until it is your turn, to select your club, put on your glove or select the yardage. Be ready to play your shot.

• Look at your own line of putt while the others in your group look at theirs (within the bounds of normal golf etiquette).

• At the green, position your bag to allow quick movement to the next tee.

• Move off the green as soon as all players have holed out or picked up. Mark scorecards at or on the way to the next tee.

• Play a provisional ball if you feel your ball may be lost or out of bounds.

• If you keep up with the group ahead you cannot be accused of slow play.

Aoife’s Clown Doctors

Conor Gallagher wishes to pass on his huge thanks to all members and friends who so kindly donated to Aoife’s Clown Doctors.  Conor and his friends walked the Camino and raised an outstanding amount, over €24,000 at last count.  Well done to you Conor – a wonderful achievement.  I notice that link is still active if anyone missed the chance:

Matchplays

Matches are progressing along and results are regularly updated.  Please get your matches played before deadlines.  Be sure to contact your opposition as early as possible, bearing in mind that people will have holiday plans. It is each player’s responsibility to make contact. As always, please text Mick Kenny 087 2438502 with any results.

Communications

It has come to my attention that there may be some members who have not accepted the invite to join our Whatsapp group.  The group is called Clontarf Castle Golf Society and is the principle method of imparting important information about upcoming outings/timesheet nights etc.  If you have not been receiving these Whatsapp messages please send me a message on 087 2471784 and I will add you to the group.
