Conor Gallagher takes the Captain’s Prize

Our Captain’s prize was played in The Jameson Links, Portmarnock this year.  A firm society favourite as always and we got to see the new course in full play, which certainly proved to be a decent test on the day with the course playing fierier than we are used to later in the year.

Society Captain Paul Traynor brought us to Clontarf Castle for a fine evening dinner before the prize presentation and we thank our namesake sponsor for looking after us so well on the evening.

Our congratulations go to Conor Gallagher who shot a tremendous score of 38 points, beating Kevin Maher on a countback, with Rob Greenhalgh in third place with 37 points. Well done to all the prize winners and to all who turned out to support the Captain. Full results are as follows:

Palmerstown Golf Club

Next up is the society Stroke Play Championship in Palmerstown Golf Club on FRIDAY 13th September, kindly sponsored by John Gaffney & Shay Fleming.  Tees are booked from 10.00am and breakfast will be available from 9.00am.  Green fee is €55.00 which includes your 2’s entry and charity donation.  Timesheet night is tomorrow evening Thursday 5th September in The Indigo Lounge in Clontarf Castle.  As always to best way to ensure you get your preferred tee time is to be there on the night.  Presentation will be held in the golf club as soon as possible after the last golfers return cards.

Player of the Year

Player of the year results are up to date on the website. Larry Gordon is holding on to the lead, with Rob Greenhalgh & Sean Finnegan not letting him get out of sight. With 3  potential counting scores to come, a lot can happen yet!  Good luck all.

Finally I regret to report the sad and sudden passing of our good friend and fellow member Peter Finnegan.  We offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends. May he Rest in Peace.  Funeral details to follow.
