Possibly the best away trip that we have experienced in our 25 year history. Our visit to Kinsale, where we played at both the Old Head and Kinsale Golf Club, has been described as “another box ticked on the list of things I want to do before checking out”. The culinary highlight of the trip was undoubtedly our visit to the renowned Fishy Fishy restuarant, kindly arranged by our sponsor for the Old Head Tadgh O Meara of Kish Fish. If you missed the trip and find yourself in Kinsale, don’t leave without a visit to this excellent restaurant.
The Old Head golf course and its surroundings (mainly water and sheer cliffs) are simply stunning. One can now understand why so many Americans play this course. For me, the entire experience was breath-taking. Bearing in mind I lost more golf balls than the total points I notched up, in no way took away from my enjoyment. With the number of cameras being whisked out during the round you could be forgiven for thinking that Philip McGowan was giving a photographic master-class.
