Handicaps After Cambrills Outing
Dear member.
It gives me great personal pleasure to be the one writing this newsletter. I think the reason will become pretty obvious when you read who is the Stroke-play Champion for 2016.
With only two outings to play before we close the book on this years calendar I hope you have enjoyed our season to date. We have still to come; Son Gaul in Mallorca and Portmarnock Links, plus our social night so there is still time to clock up a few more points before we bring the curtain down on 2016.
THE STROKE-PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP AT HOWTH GOLF CLUB.
The course was playing tough and the weather conditions did nothing to help but overall it was another great day in this years fixture list.
Our thanks to Michael Connolly from LOMI Furniture for the magnificent prizes they kindly sponsored on the day.
A very, very surprised winner was non other than Michael Brennan (you probably know him better as the Hon. sec or possibly something else) . The last time I won an outing dates back to 1993 when I had the honour to win my best friend Philip McGowans Captains prize at Royal Dublin.
It would be remiss of me not to mention the superb performance of Andy Flynn who came within half a point of taking the title. Both Tony Judge and John Oppermann were just a single shot adrift in their attempt to get their name on the cup.
I would also like to thank the Handicap committee. Really nice bunch of people!!

MALLORCA
The work has all been done. The flights the golf courses the hotels the time-sheets. All you have to do is turn up at Terminal 1 on Thursday if you are on the four day trip or Friday if you are on the three day package.
Our thanks to international sponsor Bob Fagan and Ailesbury & Ashbury retirement homes who will be on hand to present the prizes.
Just a couple of items worth remembering . Passport (current). Boarding passes. Your European Health Insurance Card. Travel insurance. Plus the price of a few pints.
The full itinerary is available to view on the website. If you have any questions about the trip pleases do not hesitate to contact me at 0876694998.
Our combined thanks to Tony Buckley for the usual great work he puts into ensuring that all the boxes are ticked regarding our away trips. Unfortunately due to business commitments Tony will not be on the bus this year. Our thoughts will be with you as you wade through next years fabric choices in China.
The contacts in Mallorca this year are as follows. Sean Guirke , Michael Brennan , Mick Kenny (who will collect money for club hire) and Starter Bryan Kenny.
It is particularly important that you make contact with Bryan on arrival at the club.
If you are on the travel list best wishes and have a great and safe trip.
Yours sincerely
Michael Brennan
