October Newsletter

I trust that all forty two travellers have now fully recovered from what has been described as “the best away trip ever”. I have no doubt the same platitudes will be lauded on the 2015 trip which is already in the planning stages.
I won’t bore the members who could not make this years trip with information about the sun drenched golf courses the excellent restaurants and bars, the sandy beaches etc etc. Make sure to come on next years trip and check it out for yourself
Judging by the favourable comments on the return journey I suggest you get your name in early for next years trip. Remember there are only 50 weeks to go before we travel.

Congratulations to Tony Buckley on a fine win at the Balearic open course Santa Ponsa One.
For the full list of winners please check the CCGS website.

Our sincere thanks to Bob Fagan and Ailesbury & Ashbury Retirement Homes for his continued sponsorship of the Bob Fagan European Classic. As ever Bob provided very generous easy to carry vouchers which can be used at McGuirkes Golf Shops. Don’t forget to ask for Mantan Walshe or Glen Behan who I have no doubt will help you  spend your voucher if you were one of the lucky winners.

I would also like to thank Tony Judge and Clubs to Hire for the excellent service and value that they provided. The Callaway and Taylor Made clubs supplied were first rate.  I would thoroughly recommend booking through them for our next trip or indeed any destination they service if you intend playing golf.

For those members who were not with us you are probably unaware that our fellow committee member and starter Bryan Kenny suffered a fall on the first day of our trip which resulted in a nasty head injury and spent most of the trip in Palma Hospital. Thankfully the story had a positive ending. Bryan went to Mallorca was not exposed to damaging UV rays, spent no money and lost weight because the treatment meant no food allowed. He actually came home looking considerably healthier than the rest of us. Wonder how that happened !!!

I received a Thank You card from Carmel and Michelle Kenny expressing their thanks for the support shown to them from the members.

It reads as follows.

To the Members of Clontarf Castle Golf Society
On behalf of Mum and myself, please accept our sincerest gratitude for all the kindness and support shown to Bryan and our family on the recent golf trip to Palma Mallorca.
We cannot thank you enough for everything the guys did to help Dad and take care of him during his hospital stay.
He is so lucky to have such a great bunch of friends.

Carmel and Michelle Kenny.

Congratulations to Michael Norton and his team on an historic victory in Royal Dublin a mere stones throw from the scene of an earlier encounter in 1014. The Brian Boro trophy is now in its rightful home.
