DRUIDS GLEN / THE CASTLE GOLF CLUB
Dear Member.
We are now at the half way mark for outings this year. Unquestionably one of the best seasons to date with record numbers supporting the society and Captain Joe O’Flaherty.
Our recent visit to the wonderful Druids Glen resulted in varied opinions regarding the course we played. I am in no doubt that winner Paul O Halloran has a very positive view having returned an outstanding 36 points on a very long and difficult course.
It must be said that Druids Glen was as in superb condition. I can definitely attest to this as I travelled through a lot more of it than most of the competitors in search of my nine little white Bridgestone balls.
In a moment of inspiration or possibly desperation. I penned the following verse which loosely records the events and feelings of the day.
THE DRUIDS REVENGE
Alas the Druids were out to brunch and no potions were on the table
The breakfast bap was fine for nine but just not enough to sustain us
We were all so tired after nine plus nine there were really no surprises
The deserving few who hit straight and true won all those wonderful prizes.
Our stock of balls were new and shiny as we started down the track
It was sad to see at end of play there were very few left for sharing
The rivers glistened with Srixons and Nikes, the lakes were awash with Pro Vs
Not forgetting the fact. We put loads in the bloody trees.
Those tees those tees those little White tees caused most of our frustration
And for those who scored and picked up a prize you have my admiration.
Next time I play I’m going to box clever and place my ball at the Greens
With a drive a wood a chip and a putt it could be my salvation
And you never know this time around I might feel a nice sense of elation .
Our sincere thanks to sponsor Hugh Ward and Hugh J Ward & Co. Solicitors for your continued support and generosity to the society.

MALLORCA
Members who have not paid the €200 deposit now run the risk of being excluded from the trip as we are under pressure to confirm and pay the agency in Mallorca for accommodation and golf. We will be doing this on Friday the 8th.of July.
The committee will not make final payment for the aforementioned however you are still liable for the airfare booked in your name.
RESERVE YOUR CLUBS FOR MALLORCA

CAPTAINS DAY
Captains day is nearly upon us. May I remind you that you must have three cards submitted to be eligible to win the Captains prize. The Castle is your last chance to make this happen.
Please note that members in their first year with the society cannot win the Captains prize .
Yours sincerely
