July Newsletter

Carne & Enniscrone

If you were one of the unfortunate members who couldn’t make it to our “Into the West” trip, I’m sorry, but I’ve no good news for you!  It was, once again, an absolutely fabulous away trip.  The Gallagher Quigley Estate Agents sponsored event was a first for the society with a two-day competition over 36 holes deciding the winner.  18 of those were on the beautiful, natural and undulating links at Carne Golf Club followed on the second day with 18 holes on the magnificent Enniscrone links.

After 36 holes it was Sean Guirke who edged ahead to win the overall prize with a tremendous score of 72 points, with Stephen Mooney a point behind in second place and Tony Judge in third with 70 points. Congratulations to all and the full results are as follows:

A huge thanks, as always, to our sponsors Conor & Rory Gallagher of Gallagher Quigley Estate Agents.  Unfortunately, Conor couldn’t make the weekend, but he was well represented by his younger, quieter brother!  We were extremely well looked after by the two hotels, The Broadhaven Bay in Belmullet and The Ocean Sands in Enniscrone.  Well done to Captain Malachy, who’s having a great year!

Mount Juliet

Next up is firm favourite Mount Juliet on Saturday 13th July and the good news is that it is singles stableford!  The time sheet is now available to view on the website.  There have been some additions to that version but there are still a few spots available.  Prize presentation will be in Mount Juliet as soon as possible after the last golfers finish.  Starters on the day will be Tony Buckley & Mick Kenny, ably assisted by Malachy Menton, but don’t expect any leniency in Bryan’s absence.  Report to the lads a minimum of 15 minutes in advance of your tee time, or a two-shot penalty looms!
