2020 Membership

As is the case every year, it will not be known if there any vacancies for new membership until all renewing members’ application forms and subscriptions have been received.  However, the committee have agreed to make the process for applying for membership better defined, as follows:

Application forms for new members will be available on the CCGS website from 1 Jan 2020, accessible by members only. To be considered for membership of the society, fully completed application forms for new members must be returned to the Hon. Sec. by 31 Jan 2020, complete with payment, as per the application form.  Successful applicants will be advised before the first outing in March.  If unsuccessful, payment and application will be returned in full mid March.

The committee propose that there will be no change to ordinary subscription rates for new members for 2020.  Application forms for renewing members will also be available in the members section of the website from 1 Jan 2020 and must be completed and returned to the Hon. Sec., along with payment of subscription by 31 Jan 2020 please.  Subscriptions and application forms will be accepted at the AGM.

Away Trips 2020 (from Tony Buckley)

Understanding that we are all busy and we need to get dates into our diaries, on behalf of our committee I am delighted to bring you information on our society’s away trips for next season.  As always, places are limited and will be guaranteed to those paying the required small deposits at the AGM.  Please take a few minutes to read all the details below as a lot of planning has gone into these trips.  Please note that the trip costs are an accurate estimate but may fluctuate slightly depending on numbers and transport costs.

Dromoland Castle & Doonbeg  4th to 7th June
We are heading to the Banner County in early June, staying in the Dromoland Inn, from Thursday 4th for 3 nights, playing Doonbeg on Friday and Dromoland Castle on Saturday.  This gem of a trip has been put together by your captain elect Tony, whose brother-in-law is the General Manager in Dromoland, hence the phenomenal value for such a quality trip!

Doonbeg, as we all know is the premium Links Trump resort with all the trimmings, whilst Dromoland Castle, for those of you who have not played it, is a truly wonderful parkland course with some spectacular holes, always beautifully presented.

We are planning to travel by bus to Doonbeg on Friday, allowing for a stop on the way back in Comerford’s Pub in Doonbeg village for a pint and a bit of craic.  The pub has family connections to our sponsor & member Joe O’Flaherty.

Cost inclusive 3 nights B&B twin sharing, presentation meal on Sat night, bus to Doonbeg and the two rounds of golf is €320.  Limited single rooms available, supplement €100.  Deposit required at AGM is €50 please.

Murcia in the Sun, Wed 30th Sept to Sunday 4th Oct

We have a splendid new venue for the society next autumn, staying at the modern 525 Hotel www.525.es in the small quaint fishing town of Los Alcazares, near Murcia on the east coast of Spain.

On Thursday we play the outstanding Las Colinas www.lascolinasgolf.es championship course and Saturday we are on the majestic Lo Romera golf course www.loromerogolf.com . A few of the committee got down last month to play these courses and I can honestly say we were blown away by them.  Las Colinas, with its first class facilities is up there with the very best we have ever played and Lo Romero is just a delight with a most memorable finishing hole.  Please use the links above to visit the websites and get a taste of what’s on offer.

Ryanair have flights to Murcia airport which is 15 mins to our hotel, leaving Dublin Wednesday afternoon and returning Sunday evening.  There is plenty to do  & see around Las Alcazares but because it is an evening  flight home on Sunday, we have booked golf for 20 players in the local Roda golf course for those wanting an extra game in the sun before we head home to the Autumn weather.  Roda is another highly recommended course and the extra cost will be €70 including buggy & range balls.  The club house has excellent facilities to shower etc before we head to the airport.  We have worked with a local agent to secure perfect tee times and ample rooms and we are delighted to offer this trip at an all in cost of €600, including return flights, all transfers, 2 games of golf in buggies, range balls and presentation meal on Sat night.  To secure your place we need €150 deposit at the AGM which will be used to book a non-refundable flight in your name.  Friday is a free day, however there is the Jack Nicklaus, El Valle Golf close by if anybody wishes to play, cost approx. €100 including buggy & transfers.  There are bars and restaurants aplenty in Los Alcazares and it will be still hopping at the end of the summer season.  All the ingredients for another great away trip, not to be missed.  Limited single rooms are available, cost €120.

These short away trips are very enjoyable and give all of us time to strengthen friendships in our wonderful society and the committee hope as many members as possible will make the effort to travel to both or at least one of these fantastic trips.

Wishing all members and their families a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy & successful golfing New Year,
