Dear Member,

This special society year went quicker than a bus full of tourists travelling through Afghanistan. Fast! Very, very fast!! One moment we are up to your necks in snow frost and ice hoping to play old Portmarnock, and in the next breath we are next door in the Links wrapping up the 25th Anniversary year. And what a year, great courses accompanied by weather rarely seen in this hemisphere made the season one of the best in our history.

Our thanks to Captain Tony Buckley and the committee for their hard work and commitment in making this a year to remember.

On behalf of the members I also wish to thank Philip McGowan, Derek Erskine and Gabriel Pollard who are stepping down having given of their energy and  time to the society. Their hard work and dedication  has been invaluable. For the camera shy members I have bad news. Philip may not be on committee however he has kindly agreed to continue as team photographer for the website gallery which continues to receive more hits than Katie Taylors opponents.

Our sincere thanks to all of our sponsors for their generousity in making the 25th Anniversary year a great success. A special thanks to Mark Long for the €5,000 cheque that he presented to the society on behalf of Gerry Houlihan and Enda O’Meara. We are grateful and indebted for this generous gesture. I would also like thank them for sponsoring our very enjoyable social night on the on the 6th. of December.

Please spare a thought for those members and friends who are no longer with us but will always be remembered for the great times we shared together playing some of the best courses and enjoying the best beers that this country has to offer.

THE 2014 SEASON

We will kick start the season at our AGM to be held on Thursday the 16th. January in the Dalcassian Suite in Clontarf Castle at 8.00pm sharp. Members wishing to serve on committee or submit motions or proposals must submit  them in writing with the Hon. sec. no later than the 9th. January. Committee application forms are available on request. Please contact Michael Brennan.

We have planned a great calendar of courses for 2014 and you can be  assured that next season will offer exceptional value to the members. You have already received an email with details of the offer for the October four day all inclusive trip to Majorca at an amazing €399. We are limited to numbers for this trip so please let me know as soon as possible if you wish to participate. The full programme for 2014 will be announced at the AGM in January.

May 2014 be a much happier time for all now that the Troika have legged it back their lair. Hopefully the next time we see them it will be on a slow tour bus heading you know where !
