June 2025 Newsletter
Those of us lucky enough to make it to County Louth GC in Baltray will agree, there is a very good reason why we go back here every year!
Dear Member,
Memorable for many reasons, the seasons opener at Sutton will go down as one of the most enjoyable outings in the past thirty years.
The weather could have been somewhat kinder to us however it was very obvious that it failed to dampen the good form of all who participated.
I would like to congratulate the committee at Sutton GC. for the warm welcome we received and for the excellent and friendly service on the part of the staff. Nothing was a problem for them and they certainly played a big part in making our day a huge success.
Sponsors at Sutton were Cian Bennis and the somewhat shy and bashful Aubrey Woolfson. We are indebted to them for their considerable contribution to kicking off our 30th. Anniversary year with a bang.
Apart from the wonderful food and prizes. Aubrey and Cian were also instrumental in raising €3300. for charity.
Our thanks to Rory Gallagher who conducted the auction and squeezed a sizeable sum from our generous members for the items that came under the hammer.
I would also like to thank our very talented entertainers for the laughs and the music. Top class!
A closely contested competition saw Brian O Callaghan emerge victorious with 38 points taking both the sponsors prize and the Memorial Trophy, two points clear of a group on 36 points who had to be separated by way of a count back.
