April Newsletter

Dear Member,
Once again the elements tried to scuttle our plans for the first event of the year at Arklow Golf Club. Undaunted we threw caution to the wind and played through every aspect of climate change. Safe to report that the members completed their round with no reports of frostbite or sunburn.
Our thanks to Arklow Golf Club for the warm welcome and hospitality we received. It would appear that all who played enjoyed the experience and would love to give it another shot later in the year under their own steam.

The prize presentation in Clontarf Castle later in the evening proved a huge success and was largely seen as a popular decision by the committee.
We fully understand that owing to our rule that winners must be on hand to collect their prizes proved difficult for some players as they had made other plans for the evening. However the committee have to look at the bigger picture and take on board the sponsors and in this instance Clontarf Castle who have done so much for us over the past twenty five years.
Going forward we intend have the presentations in the Castle if feasible. Realistically this will only happen where it is possible for the last group to comfortably make it back to the Castle by 7.30 pm. We will give you as much notice as possible when this is likely to happen as we want to see all of the winners present and are aware that family plans could “hamper” your desire to collect a hamper.
Our thanks to Liam and Larry for sponsoring the outing. Great prizes and once again we are indebted to you for your generosity.

THE MEMORIAL TROPHY
I am very pleased to report that Tadg O Sullivan proved to be a worthy and popular winner of this trophy dedicated to our friends who are no longer with us.
