December 2024 Newsletter
Dear Member, I trust this email finds you well and looking forward to Christmas. If you’re fed up reading election...
What a fabulous way to kick off our 35th Anniversary year, with the magnificent Portmarnock Golf Club in splendid condition and the weather holding up beautifully on the day. The blemish free greens were rolling superbly and the rough was not too severe if you managed not to stray too far from the fairways. The staff were very welcoming, particularly the catering, where we were very well looked after before and after golf.
Captain Stephen was unfit for golf on the day but it was great to see him out walking the fairways and chatting with the members. I’m sure he got to see some interesting golf and a fine collection of weird and wonderful golf swings, including, of course, a fine display of golf from Joe Enright who turned in an excellent winning score of 41 points to secure first place & the Memorial Trophy 2023. Great scoring also by Chris Cadwell in 2nd place with 38 points and Brian O’Callaghan in 3rd place with 37 points. Well done lads! The prize presentation was well attended and it is great to see the members supporting our repeat sponsor Derek Erskine & The Airport Driving School. Many thanks as always to The Clontarf Castle for making The Indigo Lounge available to us along with some delicious finger food.

The outing is on Friday 21st April, tees from 10.30am to 1.00pm playing in four balls. Prize giving will be immediately after golf at L & B golf club. Catering will be available before and after golf.
Sign-on night is in 2 days time on TUESDAY 11th April from 8.00pm in The Indigo Lounge, Clontarf Castle. Discounted price to members on the night is €50.00 which includes €5.00 to cover entry into the 2’s competition and a charitable donation. We had a great turnout at the previous sign-on night and everyone who attended ensured that they got their preferred tee time.

Please be sure to arrange your match as soon as you can. It is the responsibility of both sides to make contact. The dead line for the singles preliminary round is fast approaching – 21st April. 31st May is the date for the fourball. Both draws are available to view on the website www.ccgs.ie.
Please be sure to report match results by text to Mick Kenny 087 243 8502.
Be sure to get a copy of the fixture card for the year. Your starter Bryan will generally have some available when you arrive to play golf. Here’s a copy for your convenience:
Be sure to keep 21st July free in your diary. Among all the other great outings planned for the year, Clontarf represents a return to the very first outing for the society 35 years ago and we intend to make it a fun day out.
