As you may know CCGS purchased a Defibrillator (AED – Automated External Defibrillator) in 2012. This device is present at all CCGS outings. Currently there are 12 members fully trained in the use of the AED. Anyone who has completed such a training course knows that time is a critical factor between someone surviving a cardiac arrest or not.
Be aware that AED trained members are not the only ones that can help save the life of a friend. Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public location die because they don’t receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. As a bystander, don’t be afraid. Your actions can only help. The following video shows what you can do, even without training, to help…
STEP 1 – CALL the emergency services 999
STEP 2 – START Hands Only CPR
If you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse, call 9-9-9 and then push hard and fast in the center of the chest to the beat of the classic disco song “Stayin’ Alive.” CPR can more than double a person’s chances of survival, and “Stayin’ Alive” has the right beat for Hands-Only CPR.
